Facebook Ruins Lives

Went and saw The Social Network on Friday at the Somerville theater. First of all Somerville theater $7 movie, beer at the theater and popcorn was under $5 = [unlike every overpriced theater in Boston] win. The movie was surprisingly very interesting. The inventor of facebook is from Harvard? odd. The inventor of facebook striving to just be popular in college? odd. The inventor of facebook is the youngest billionaire. wow. The film was shot really well and I am a sucker for seeing Boston scenes in movies now that I live here. Once again the internet has blown my mind in how facebook blew up so quickly and gained so much revenue. However Mark Zuckerberg is portrayed basically as jerk which yet again makes me want to delete my facebook forever.

I also saw Catfish a few weeks ago which I personally think is a bit more interesting. Also dealing with the internet and facebook this accidental documentary shows us what happens when you spend time talking to people on the internet and what can happen when they don't turn out to be who you thought they were. After the movie there was a Q&A with the director and his brother who were both in the film which was pretty awesome. It is a scary world out there. Talking to unknown people is never a good idea and this film shows how weird it can turn out. Also will make you want to rethink having a facebook.
