Just some thoughts...

Yesterday in my AIB class Representing Representation we discussed copyright and ownership which made me think of Shirky's book. The problem being discussed was weather Koons stole Art Rogers photograph to make tons of money off of his own version of the piece. He had a sculpture built and then photographed the sculpture in black in white making it look pretty identical to Art's photograph. In the end he was brought to court and lost the case [as well as losing 3 or 4 other cases that year dealing with the same issues]. If ownership is that important in the art world how does it keep its importance when the web is involved. With tools like screen shot it is easy to get access to most art today. I still don't understand how blogs and tumb1r and other sites allow people to post and share art [mainly photographs] without even crediting the artist.
